Ubud and Beyond
Ubud is a recognised centre for decorative arts, a significant part of the city consists of shops and art galleries.
It has a number of interesting architectural and other attractions, individuality, beautiful surroundings and pleasant climate in this there is an atmosphere of well-being. Ubud surrounded by what attracts many people to Bali – scenic rice fields, small villages, art and crafts, ancient temples, palaces, rivers, cheap accommodation and good hotels. Ubud is so crammed with attractions it can almost seem like a visual assault at times. Try to make sure you allocate at least a week for your visit here, and take your time to explore properly. Visitors who jump in to Ubud for just two or three days of their Bali holiday, stand little chance of understanding much of what is going on around them. Shopping in local markets? Culinary quest? Many travelers visit Ubud Monkey Forest to see the hundreds of playful monkeys in a calm and lush forest. The Ubud Monkey Forest has been around for so long that its history was determined through a thorough analysis on the site, making the Ubud Monkey Forest older than its home country, Indonesia. There are at least 115 species of trees in the forest, some of which are significant in Balinese culture as sacred or as materials used during rituals. About 600 monkeys live in the forest area, more specifically known as the Balinese long-tail Monkey.

Goa Gajah
Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave) is a cave dating back to the ninth century
The entrance to which is an ornately carved demon’s mouth. Inside are some fragmentary lingam and yoni statues, as well as a statue of Ganesha. Large carved guards stand around pools near the entrance, and a little path leads to a waterfall, rice fields and some Buddhist stupa fragments.
Tegalalang Rice Field
The Tegallalang rice terraces alone offers a scenic outlook that spreads down before you and away to the rice paddies on the slopes across the valley.
The high roadside location is cool and breezy and it is a well-known spot for tourists to stop and take photos. The small village of Pakudui, a craftsman’s dominion located in Tegallalang, is a journey of witnessing the splendour of local talent at its best. Here you will find an extraordinary variety of ornamental woodwork and various carvings.
